Each time you crack an egg You give birth to a new world of possibility Caloric potential Ready to fuel being Most of us in this country have never eaten an egg whose yolk bares resemblance in pigment to wild buttercups in a field We must make do with sallow-yellow, watered-down, bleached- over, sad chicken We must say thanks to a drowning frowning god for a masterpiece of exploitation We must ask ourselves “if I were an egg what would crack me? and more importantly, How would I nourish?” We must ask ourselves why do we despise innocence? Must we steal it from every ember before it can grow into a flame? Must we break down every thing that’s holy? Must we remove nature from the natural Remove children from their olives? Remove sinners from their absolution? For we were never sinners until you decided to punish every wild, beautiful thing.
